A Catholic Cemetery is Sacred Ground according to the Code of Canon Law (c. 1205) of the Catholic Church. St. Peter's Cemetery provides family and friends with a peaceful and prayerful environment to acknowledge Christ's promise of new life after death and to remember and show respect for loved ones.
In order to maintain St. Peter's Cemetery in a way that honors the faith and respect due our beloved deceased, and, as a practical matter, to allow for the ongoing maintenance of the cemetery grounds, the following rules and regulations were established in 1958 and are still in effect today.
Among the Cemetery rules are as follows:
1. NO PLANTINGS OF TREES, SHRUBS, OR BUSHES.
2. NO PLANTINGS OF FLOWERS MORE THAN 6" FROM HEADSTONE.
3. NO PLASTIC OR IMITATION FLOWERS.
4. NO GLASS JARS, VASES, OR DECORATIONS.
5. NO TRINKETS OR STATUES THAT ARE NOT PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO THE HEADSTONE.
6. NO FENCES OF ANY KIND INCLUDING PLASTIC, BRICK, OR ANY OTHER MATERIAL.
7. NO GRAVEL, PEBBLE, WOOD OR MARBLE CHIPS.
8. NO SHRUBS OR TRESS MAY BE PLANTED.
9. CHRISTMAS WREATHS AND PALM CROSSES MUST BE REMOVED WITHIN 40 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS AND PALM SUNDAY, RESPECTIVELY.
